Have Faith: Act Now!

There are several things you can do to support youth at Durban and make sure we get a fair deal for the future:

1) you can donate to the caravan —> over on the right by clicking the bus —>
2) you can sign the petition below to call for a legally binding treaty
3) you can visit the links on the right and get involved with the global movements
4) you can join the climate march on December 3rd
5) you can put your name on the map with the African Climate Connection

You must be honest and committed to treating the Earth and people with respect at the climate Summit in Durban. Moral principles – and not profit and economic gain – should be applied in the negotiations in order to secure our common future. Thus far, the negotiations have not yielded any acceptable result; meanwhile the people of Africa are suffering fatal impacts of climate change. You must commit to the principle of inter-generational equity, for the rights of our children and Mother Earth.

1) Commit to a fair, ambitious and legally binding agreement and to a second commitment period for the Kyoto Protocol to ensure the survival of coming generations.
2) Set clear short and long term targets for carbon emission reductions that keep average global temperature increases well below 1.5 degrees centigrade, and to support solutions that contribute to healing the earth.
3) Ensure there is adequate finance for adaptation in Africa.  Such finance should come from historically polluting nations in recognition of their ecological debt and be additional to existing development aid, governed inclusively and equitably under the United Nations.

We also have an online Photo Petition, partnered with Christian Aid’s “Time for Climate Justice” campaign, at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wehavefaithcaravan/sets/72157627966683387/ You can add your face and message to our world leaders by sending in a photo to COP17demands@gmail.com
